GREEN RIVER Trade Knife circa 1840


English made Green River skinning knife much favoured by frontiers men and Mountain men throughout.
This is a trade grade example possibly for the Hudson Bay Company
the north USA and Canada during. 19th & early 20th centuries.
Nice clean little used, madden Sheffield by Joseph Elliot & Son Cutlers .
The presence of the Maltese cross dates the knife after 1805 by !850s Elliot was specialising in top end table wear. Google for an interesting history
